The Worshipful Company of Musicians has been in existence since the 15th century in the City of London. They continue to uphold their long tradition of serving the City of London: especially in bringing music to young people. Although Islington remains outside the City walls, the musicians of the Worshipful Company have, for several years, brought excellent young musicians to play in Islington schools. They bring excellent postgraduate students to deliver a variety of performances or workshops in school assemblies or music departments. We have had some exceptional musicians in this programme with instruments ranging from woodwind and guitar to classical accordion.
Together we also work on extended projects, such as exploring the music of Peter and the Wolf. Take a look at the video to see some of our young primary aged pupils working with these world class musicians at Barbican.
